Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures - General
Definition
Assistance focusing on improving knowledge of international agreements relating to products moving in international trade and their implications for food safety, animal health and plant protection; or focusing protection on preventing or limit damage within the territory of a Member from the entry, establishment and spread of pests; or other assistance which cannot be disaggregated into the separate categories.
Description
Types of assistance measures under STDF General include inter alia: (I) formulation and revision of SPS legislation; (II) conducting workshops and training courses on the SPS Agreement, transferring information, knowledge and skills associated with SPS control and international standard setting bodies; (III) establishment and strengthening of control agencies as well as with training in the necessary technical and administrative skills to ensure their effective operation.
