Eastern & Southern Africa: Increasing competitiveness and sustainability of leather sector in COMESA countries (PACT II)

Description
To develop a model of work – based on value addition to local resources and market/product development - that enables COMESA to achieve a sustainable and internationally competitive leather sector in the region. The model is based on 3 parallel lines of work that produce replicable pilot experiences in the areas of: finished leather (through industrial collaboration and Foreign Direct Investment), finished products (shoes) for domestic and regional markets and for international markets (bags); new qualities of leather (sustainable and community based tanned leather).
