WTO National Trade in Services Seminar for government officials and Workshop for private sector and civil society representatives - Séminaire et atelier de l'OMC sur le commerce des services - Taller y seminario de la OMC sobre comercio de servicios
Description

The activity has two parts. The first part (the Seminar) is intended for government officials and seeks to facilitate an in-depth understanding of trade and line ministries officials of the legal framework of the GATS, its various obligations, scheduling of commitments, transparency and regulatory obligations, policy formulation, new issues in services negotiations and the evolving regional integration landscape with the focus on Sri Lanka.

 

The second part (the Workshop) will target private sector and civil society representatives and aims to provide services sector stakeholders with an understanding of basic trade in services disciplines, recent global trends in services trade, main concepts in trade in services agreements, and emerging global governance challenges (e.g. e-commerce, data localization), as well as issues related to policy space during the liberalization process and peculiarities of mode 4.
