Strategic Partnerships for Enhancing Export Quality in Developing Countries
Description
The purpose of this Window 1 is to improve and expand the export quality management (EQM) services of ITC through partnership with strategic institutions with the aim of strengthening ITC's leadership position in providing trade related technical assistance in the field of standards and quality. Institutions like the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the German Institute of Metrology (PTB) and the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) enjoy a good reputation in the provision of specific trade-related technical services in the field of standardization, quality and metrology through their strong network of national standards bodies, metrology institutions and other local institutions. This project aims at building strong partnership with such organisations (ISO, PTB and others) so as to leverage on their network, experience and expertise to expand and improve ITC export quality management services. This will be done by : • Building up on what has been done in the past with ISO on the linkage between national standards bodies (NSBs) and trade support organisations (TPOs) so as to come forward with the setting up of a global foundation for sustainable network collaboration between NSBs and TPOs; • Developing new tools for SMEs using the expertise and network of the partners; and • Identifying new areas of collaboration with such institutions, which could result in potential demand driven TRTA projects.
