SADC Supply Chain and Logistics Programme - Coordination
|
Description
The SADC programme aims to build capacity of small scale agro-producers (SMEs)in order for them to participate in supply/value chains that currently serve supermarkets and hotels in Malawi, Mozambique and South Africa. This is a programme that assists local non-traditional producers to provide Fresh Fruit and Vegetables (FFV)to retail outlets within national and regional borders. In its implementation the project brings together producers, logistics services providers and established businesses that are already preparing the FFV for local or export markets. The programme draws expertise from ITC and the region in promoting best practice in the horticulture sector's business development and linking supermarkets as drivers of that business growth for the SMEs. The project is funded by the Flemish government.
