Trade and Environment Programme - Phase 2
The purpose of the programme is to increase the export competitiveness of SMEs in developing countries exporting to green economy markets whilst strengthening their sector sustainability and climate resilience. Trade and Environment Programme 2 (TEP 2) builds on lessons learnt in TEP 1 (2010-13) to deliver capacity building for SMEs and TSIs, provision of public information goods and strengthening market linkages between exporters and buyers. TEP2 will deliver two projects whilst working to mainstream environment in ITC. The two projects are entitled Project 1 Strengthening export competitiveness and sustainability in the trade in the agri-food products Project 2 Strengthening export competitiveness and sustainability in the trade in biodiversity-based products and services The projects are delivered at a country level through interventions in Peru, Uganda, Kenya and Madagascar as well as at the Global level through the provision of Global Public Goods related to global value chains in natural resource based commodities in the agriculture, forestry, fisheries and biodiversity product sectors. The project will build innovative partnerships in the public and private sector, for example through letters of cooperation with CITES, Kering, Promperu and others. The Trade and Environment team will continue providing in house support to project developers on mainstreaming environment into project design as well as offer project implementation services in natural resource based sectors.
