The WTO Regional
Workshop on the Agreement on Agriculture and Agriculture Negotiations,
organized by the Agriculture and Commodities Division (AGCD) and the Institute
for Training and Technical Cooperation (ITTC), offers specialized training to
governmental officials involved in agricultural trade.
The general aim of
the Workshop is to enable participants to improve their understanding of the
provisions of the Agreement on Agriculture, so as to effectively implement the
relevant agricultural commitments within the domestic policy setting. It is
tailored to specific characteristics and needs of the region, covering in
addition to the provisions of the Agreements on Agriculture also related
implementation obligations, and the work of the Agriculture Committee. The
participants will also be exposed to the key issues that have been considered in
the agriculture negotiations including the outcomes of the last three
Ministerial Conferences. The Workshop should facilitate a more effective
participation of the beneficiary countries in the work of the Committee on
Agriculture and in the agriculture negotiations.
Participants will
also have the opportunity to learn about the various transparency tools,
including the Ag-IMS data system, that are available to them to follow the relevant
developments and discussions in the domain of agriculture as well as to access
