The principal objective of this Round
Table is to provide a regional insight
on the future of multilateral trading system. Historically, Eurasian countries
have developed unique and complex geopolitical, economic and trade relations
with their counterparts around the globe. At the heart of Eurasia, the Astana
China Round Table will therefore provide a context to discuss the way forward for deeper integration of the
Eurasian region into the global market economy, including its contributions and
systemic importance for the global trade. Special focus will be drawn on the
role the Eurasian Economic Union is playing in shaping the regional economy and
its relations with the multilateral trading system. In addition, the CRT-07
will reflect on the best accession-related experiences and elaborate on the
developing trends in Eurasian accessions. It will allow benefiting from the
first-hand experience of the chief negotiators, chairpersons and the WTO
Secretariat as well as acceding governments. Another pillar of the Round table is focused on the evolution of the WTO
rules and the role of WTO Accessions, which have proved to be the vehicle for WTO rule-making, often a step ahead of
multilateral trade negotiations. On the third day of the China Round Table,
participants will attend the High-Level Forum on Facilitating Trade and
Investment for Development, hosted by Kazakhstan in partnership with the WTO
