Briefing of Members of Parliament of Kenya on Cyberlaws
Description
This briefing of the Members of Parliament representing the Departmental Committee on Energy, Information and Communication will highlight legal and regulatory issues relating to e-commerce, m-commerce and the EAC Cyberlaw harmonization process. This briefing, which is organized by the Commission on Communications of Kenya in collaboration with UNCTAD, aims not only to accelerating the process of enacting draft cyberlaws, but also to ensure proper implementation and subsequent administration of the EAC framework for cyberlaws. Given that ICTs play a critical role in the Government´s development strategy 2030 where the focus is put on SMEs and e-government, there is a political will in Kenya to advance on the cyberlaw reforms. This move will also support the increasing use of mobile phones to conduct financial operations and for which Kenya has been a pioneer in mobile money services in Africa.
