Description
Workshop on Government Procurement for Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Caucasus Countries - English - Specialist - Level 2 - This Workshop will address policy-related issues on government procurement both generally and as they relate to trade. A further important focus will be on accession to the Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA) and related policy issues, recognising that several countries in the region are either negotiating , or have undertaken commitments to seek , accession to the Agreement. Its purpose is to inform participants of WTO activities in this area, to provide a forum for both trade and procurement experts to exchange views and perspectives on national, bilateral, regional and multilateral trade-related activities and initiatives in the area of government procurement, and to facilitate policy development and decision making in this area. Particular attention will be given to the revised GPA, which is expected to enter into force in 2013 or early 2014, following the formal adoption of the outcomes of the renegotiation of the Agreement on 30 March 2012 (GPA/113).
