WTO Regional Workshop on Trade in Services

Description
Advanced Workshop on the GATS and the Services Negotiations for Arab and Middle East Countries - English - Specialist - The seminar aims at facilitating the more effective participation of relevant officials in the trade in services work of the WTO.
It will include: (1) a review of the main provisions of the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) and techniques for scheduling commitments; (ii) market access and rule making negotiations (especially domestic regulation) mandated by the GATS; (iii) the application of the GATS to particular sectors, notably financial services and telecommunications; and (iv) some aspects and implications of preferential trade agreement covering services.
Practical exercises will complement and deepen the presentations. Experts will also be invited to present on topics that are of interest to the region.
