This national workshop of intermediate/advance level is a follow up of the activity conducted in May 2014. It will focus on specific issues related to the implementation of the WTO SPS Agreement of relevance to the country and will be framed in the context of the STDF funded project (STDF/PG/242), aiming to develop a national SPS strategy. It will cover the main provisions and principles of the SPS Agreement, the work of the SPS Committee, transparency and technical assistance. In addition, the three international standard-setting organizations referred to in the SPS Agreement, i.e., the Codex Alimentarius Commission, the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), and the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) will also participate in this workshop with lectures and exercises.  The workshop will also offer the opportunity to discuss specific issues in each one of the above-mentioned fields and in relation to the national SPS strategy of interest to the country.
