Description
This Seminar is organized by the WTO Secretariat in co-operation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Government of Tajikistan for the benefit of government officials and other persons interested in issues concerning government procurement and trade. It aims to introduce the revised WTO Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA) to participants and to facilitate related internal consultations. The objectives of the Seminar are to enhance participants' awareness of: (i) the outcomes of the GPA renegotiation and the relevance of the Agreement for trade, development and economic performance; (ii) the concepts, principles and obligations of the Agreement, including flexibilities provided; (iii) the relationship between the GPA and bilateral/regional free trade agreements; and (iv) the modalities for seeking accession to the Agreement, in addition to potential benefits and related costs and challenges.
