WTO/IMF Regional Workshop for Civil Society and media - English
|
Description
This four-day workshop is organized jointly by the WTO and the IMF Communications Department (COM). WTO and IMF staff are assisted by lecturers from Thomson Reuters Foundation in the design and delivery of training. The workshop engages the audience in practical and hands-on exercises aiming at enhancing their understanding of the work of the IMF and WTO, and enabling them to more critically evaluate the institutions’ policy decisions and report on economic developments based on an analytical framework. An important component in achieving this is training the audience on how to access public information related to IMF and WTO activities and policies with a focus on the MENA region. It is hoped that making access to data easier and familiarization with evidence-based tools will assist journalists in their endeavor to evaluate and report on fast developing economic and trade issues in the region, and importantly, gauge the IMF’s and WTO’s response to them (each in their areas of expertise) in an objective and educated way.
