With the increasing importance of trade as a developmental
tool for countries and even more importantly as a tool for the achievement of
the 2030 Agenda and in light of the developments that has occurred leading up
to, during and after the 11th Ministerial conference, it is proposed that there
be a regional workshop on Trade and Development in Latin America.
The workshop would aim to provide participants with an
understanding of the issues of interest to developing countries in the various
areas of negotiations and regular work of WTO, as well as a greater
appreciation of the linkage between trade and development. In addition, the activity will endeavour to
provide the participants with a greater understanding of various factors that
can enhance developmental gains from trade.
