EIF Regional (Pacific) Workshop
The Government of Vanuatu will host a sub-regional workshop on the EIF with the participation of three representatives each (EIF Focal Point, Donor Facilitator and a representative of the lead Ministry for the Poverty Reduction Strategy Programmes) from Kiribati, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor Leste and Tuvalu. Also invited are representatives from Cambodia and Zambia, to share their experience with the EIF process with the Pacific countries; Cambodia will also share its experience on WTO accession. The Workshop objectives are 1) to allow the Government of Vanuatu and other governments from the Pacific Islands to share experiences of the process of drafting the DTIS and implementation of the EIF; 2) to allow the Integrated Framework Executive Secretariat to assist the sub-region with the transition from the IF to the enhanced IF, in particular formulation of Tier 1 and Tier 2 projects and implementation of the M&E framework; and 3) to provide platforms to discuss how the EIF process can support the WTO Accession and the greater Aid for Trade agenda in the Pacific. Representatives of international organizations such as ITC, UNCTAD, UNIDO, UNDP, World Bank and WTO are expected to participate in the meetings in addition to the EIF Executive Secretariat and the Trust Fund Manager (UNOPS). Bilateral donors in Vanuatu and other countries in the sub-region are also invited to participate.
