EIF Regional (Asia) Workshop
Description
The Government of Nepal will host a sub-regional workshop on the EIF with the participation of three representatives each (EIF Focal Point, Donor Facilitator and a representative of the lead Ministry for the Poverty Reduction Strategy Programme) from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Maldives and Yemen. The Workshop objectives are 1) to allow the Government of Nepal and other Governments from Asia to share experiences of the process of drafting the DTIS and implementation of the EIF; 2) to allow the resource persons from the EIF Core Agencies and the Integrated Framework Executive Secretariat (IFES) to assist the sub-region with the transition from the Integrated Framework to the enhanced Integrated Framework, in particular with the formulation of Tier 1 and Tier 2 projects and the implementation of the M&E Framework; and 3) to provide platforms to discuss how the EIF process can support the greater Aid for Trade agenda and trade policy development, including WTO Accession and Notification in Asian LDCs. Representatives of international organizations such as ITC, UNCTAD, UNDP, UNIDO, the World Bank and the WTO are expected to participate in the meetings in addition to the IFES and the Trust Fund Manager (UNOPS). Bilateral donors in Nepal and the Asian Regional Development Bank will also be invited to participate.
