The main purpose of the Seminar for Latin American journalists is to promote and improve the knowledge of professionals in the region specializing in economic and trade information on the WTO, with the aim of improving the quality of information on the work of the organization and on the latest developments concerning the multilateral trade system. 

The various sessions of the seminar, which will be interactive in order to encourage the widest possible participation of journalists, will include an introductory presentation on the WTO and a more detailed discussion of the current state of the organization's activities (negotiations, trade policy review, dispute settlement, development policy, forthcoming Ministerial Conference, etc.).

The Mexican Government will be actively involved, mainly through the Ministry of Economy, and various experts in trade matters from the institutional and academic world in Mexico.
