Nicaragua: Enhancing the capacities of women business enterprises to participate in international trade (W&T phase II)
Description
The purpose of this project is to increase the export readiness of Nicaraguan Women Business Enterprises (WBEs), while enhancing the portfolio of export training services offered by la Asociacion de Productores y Exportadores de Nicaragua (APEN). The project has two components: 1. An institutional strengthening and training component which, utilizing the ACCESS! Programme methodology, will create capacities within APEN to provide enhanced export services, and will increase WBEs’ export management knowledge. 2. A market awareness and skills development component -focusing on the fashion sector- to help selected Nicaraguan WBEs enhance their product development abilities as well as their knowledge of a target market. The project is part of the Women and Trade Programme – Phase II. It will build on the lessons learned and results achieved by ACCESS! under PACT II, as well as on two previous ITC projects in Peru and Mexico geared towards empowering WBEs to access the United States (US) market with garments and jewelry products.
